Addressing the media ahead of a league game away to Valencia on Wednesday, Zidane failed to rebuke the 24-year-old for publicly making his case.
"I think it's understandable and that i have zero issue with it," he stated.
"You may ask him and then he replies to the people questions. But I'm positive that he's fully focused.
The way forward for Pepe, from contract in June, is also under scrutiny, but Zidane insisted his focus remains about the veteran defender's performances.
"That's what I'm thinking about, the things i want," he explained.
"With regards to contract, it has nothing with regards to me. I have got faith in Pepe. There will be occasions when he won't play. That won't change."
